Here’s the novel outline; we’re going down the lane
On a textbook day that feels like a dream
He says, “I’d ride in rain for you and defend your honour too
I’d write you pretty letters to profess my love for you”
It’s my imagination; I know it’s running wild
But I just can’t seem to get you off my mind
Maybe it is Jane Austen’s books that get my head into a whirl
That Mr. Darcy will come knocking at my door
Dear Jane Austen – what’s my problem?
Wish I lived in the simple olden days
Jane, Jane, Jane – I’d do anything to live in your timeframe
Here’s the storyboard again
The boys are all now gentlemen
And everyone talks face to face
I’d like to trade my jeans for a dress with pretty lace
And change my name to Mrs. Knightly for the day
Dear Jane Austen – what’s my problem?
Wish I lived in the simple olden days
Jane, Jane, Jane – I’d do anything to live in your timeframe
I’m going to take a turn around the grounds
Of Longbourn to Pemberley, and then back down to earth
Oh reality – you’re not as nice as fantasy
Honestly, I’d like to be in
Jane’s timeframe – the simple old days
Jane, Jane, Jane – I’d do anything, oh
Jane, Jane, Jane – I’d do anything
To live in your timeframe
